Has anyone tried to get the Suunto Dive Manager program to work on a laptop with Vista? I cant seem to get my program to recognize the download cable from Custom Idea for my Vyper 2. Works great on the wife's XP laptop!

Did you try going to the Suunto site to check before posting here?

I would be willing to bet you are trying to use the XP drivers under Windows Vista.
I don't own and have never even seen a Suunto dive computer but I was able to locate the information you need in about 1 minute.

You should always go to the manufacturer's web site first to see if they have Vista drivers available before posting for other's to comment.

Follow the URL shown below and it will take you to the page on the Suunto site where you can download the drivers you need. The link to download the Vista drivers on the page is located under the following bold heading:

An update for the Windows Vista software users

Since you mentioned you have a laptop you more than likely have the 32-bit version of Windows Vista. You would have had to specifically order the 64-bit version to have it pre-loaded on your laptop.

1/2 the problem solved... the Custom Idea cable isnt compatable with the Vyper 2 for some reason. Still...the issue of the program recognizing the cable for the wife's Cobra. Did the 32 bit driver download right off the bat, so that isnt the issue.

Manual log entry...goin' old school with the new unit!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Good luck. Hopefully perseverance will win out for you. It is the pits to manually enter data that is already stored electronically within you dive computer.

Also, by entering it manually you lose all the data points that were captured by your dive computer.

Hopefully, you can get it sorted out.

I have had success on both my Desktop computer with 64 bit Vista and my laptop with 32 bit Vista getting my Vyper data to download.

But-- since I downloaded the latest version of the Dive Manager software I've had no luck.

My desktop has both USB and serial connectors and I've tried both. Laptop has USB only. Now neither computer will connect.

I get "device not found" or "timeout messages".

Phooey! I've rarely had so much difficulty with any sort of software since I have had the Vyper (about a year and a half now)

If SUUNTO is going to promote PC connectivity as a "feature" of their DC's they ought to get the bugs worked out.

And yes, I made sure contacts were clean so there is a good electrical connection and DC is set to TR-PC.

Give suuntoo a call they will talk you through it and yes it will work with vista either serial or USB there few steps you have to do,I try to find the email.

I downloaded the lated Dive Manager to my laptop running Vista and I had no problems connecting my Vyper to it--but I use the Suunto USB cable.
