I've started looking at computers again and See Suunto has a new D6 but can't see the difference between the D9 without transmitter, except the D6 is a lower price.

Is it a repackage to help avoid the bad reputation from two D9 safety recalls?
Smaller packaging size?
Titanium vs Stainless?

Also, can the user change batteries in either the D6/D9?
Thank you.

The main difference I know of is the D9 can use the wireless transmitter for air pressure. the D6 has no air integration. No user replaceable batteries for either of them. Titanium vs Stainless - not sure can't answer that one.

Not sure what the D6 is made of. Big differences are air integration possible with D9 and 3 instead of 2 nitrox mixes with D9.

To summarize:

1) The D6 is slimmer than the D9 because it has no air integration
2) D6 allows 2 gas mixes instead of 3
3) The strap is different on the D6...some D9 users (not me i like it) have complained about the strap and buckles in the past
4) Both need to be sent back to Suunto for battery replacement
5) The D6 came out months ago way before the recall...and some units are being recalled as well so it's not a "repackage" of the D9
6) D6 is made of steel and the D9 is titanium
7) I believe the USB cable is an option with the D6 it comes as part of the package in the D9

hope this helps.

I got to Demo both at this last weekend's Scuba fair and the D6 is a lower profile, but still on par with a large size watch. The LDS rep said that Suunto is giving away three free battery changes to buyers.
