I've had this Suunto Cobra for a few years. My wife has had a Suunto Zoop for the same length of time. We dive together, same profiles, same gas and for most of that time our computers seem to agree on NDL times.

A year ago or so we decided to get new primary computers and keep our Suuntos for backups. I went with the Galileo Luna and she eventually ended up with the Suunto Eon Steel. All was well for a while and the computers seemed to be within a few minutes of each other for similar profiles.

In December we went to Cozumel. I didn't feel that our profiles were overly aggressive and neither did either of my wife's Suuntos or my Galileo but my Cobra thought I needed a deco ceiling on a dive where none of the other computers said we were remotely close to an NDL limit, like 40 more minutes or so.

Since that time nearly every two tank dive day we've done my Cobra will lock me out on a deco violation when the three others put us well below that obligation. This does seem to only happen on Nitrox, which we dive if it's available and the dive isn't super shallow (like Looe Key Reef). It's almost like I get credit for the O2 but it fails to deduct a like amount of N2 or something.

Has anyone heard of this before?

I'm just curious. My plan going forward is to switch to an SPG and two air integrated Galileo computers and leave the Cobra in a drawer gathering dust.

All Suunto computers require an aerodynamic test. This is done by unscrewing the hose from your first stage so you have the console and hose separate from everything else. Next you need to locate a large body of water because there will most likely be a nice breeze to help with the test. Next step is very important. Grasp the end of the hose and whirl it around as fast as you can and with your timing just right, let it go and watch it fly out into the water never to be seen again. Then buy an other than Suunto computer and dive happily ever after....This bitter flavor recipe stems from a $hit sandwich I recently ate from Suunto on a cobra. Suunto has fleamarket customer service philosophy
