Susan Williams was a researcher at the Bodega Bay Marine Lab and an important supporter of marine reserves. She was killed in a car accident on her way to a lecture yesterday (Tue April 24th)

This is a real tragedy. I had at least 3 classes I can recall from Susan, and until she changed universities she was on my grad school committee.

Apropos to this board, I believe she did some saturation diving in a "habitat" back in the 1980's. I had thought she'd given up diving by the later 1980's because there were some concerns with saturation diving and her long-term health (specific to her), but I now realize she's been diving in the tropics on her Facebook page.
