I'm thinking of changing from a one-piece bathing suit to surf shorts and a thin neoprene top to dive in. Just what does one wear under surf shorts since they don't come with built-in underwear like men's swim trunks? Also, the leg holes are quite large so I wouldn't want someone swimming behind me to get a view they wouldn't want!!??

Well, when I swim in my surf shorts, I generally just wear my bikini bottoms underneath. You can buy the tops and bottoms seperatly at most department stores; you could pick up just the bottoms if you wouldn't wear a bikini normally.

when I run at the gym, I wear spandex Champion shorts underneath my loose running shorts, just to prevent freaking anyone out if my shorts ride up while I am running. LOL Maybe you could try a pair of spandex work-out shorts underneath? They make many different lengths and styles.

The other option would be to do what IndigoEve suggested, and wear some bikini bottoms underneath them. There are lots of swimwear websites that sell tops and bottoms individually, and you can PM me if you'd like the website of the company that I've had good luck with. Also, I've been told that stores like Target and Khol's (if you have them in your area) sell pieces separately. Good luck!

You could also buy a men's speedo for much cheaper than a women's piece of swim wear.

many companies that sell athletic clothing for women sell women's shorts with liners. i know moving comfort does, and i bet every major marketer of running shorts does too.

what's nice about this is that shorts and liner are generally both made of a lightweight technical fiber that won't soak up water and that will dry quickly.

good luck,
