At the risk of launching am infamous thread I am going to ask this question sincerely.

This is regarding bowel activity while diving. We (wife and I) have both observed this phenomenon. Sometimes as we are gearing up we have that nagging feeling that we need "to go" but we know that we are not "ready".

If we get in the water and make the dive the sensation goes away and we rarely need to follow-up after the dive. Our dives average an hour of bottom time so the time out is often nearly twice that with getting an and out and a possible surface swim.

Could that sensation be entirely gas that gets cleared in compression / decompression of the dive or is there something else going on?

Thansk,
pete
