When I travel in the Caribbean and become immersed in the people, the island and culture, I often walk away wondering what can I do to "Better" the island or to give something back.

On our island there is an amazing group of volunteers working towards the humane care of animals on Bonaire. Please consider donating money or pet supplies such as chew treats or Frontline to Dierenasiel Bonaire, Animal Shelter Bonaire

Another group is working feverishly to stop the neglect and abuse of animals. I personally foster a horse that was saved from a horrific life. Elly Alber and her team have investigated several neglect situations for me and are true professionals.

:DPlease check out Welcome to the home page of the Foundation Animal Welfare Bonaire!

Thanks for posting this info. For years I have been active in sending medical supplies to The Cozumel Humane Society for their spay and neuter projects. It is a constant uphill and heartbreaking battle for these people who dedicate their lives towards helping animals. I think their hard work and dedication has paid off. You don't see many stray's running around compared to other parts of Mexico and the Carribean. I am glad to see Bonaire engaged in these programs as well. l be in Curacao in Jan. Is there a similar organization there that I could help out?

We have an animal shelter and a second animal protection group. This is the shelter's web site. Dierenbescherming Curaçao: Welcome I thought I had the other's web site but most likely can't read the Dutch. I'll figure it out before you arrive.
For everyone's information, there is a set of books in Dutch, Papiamento and English; Our Reef, Our birds, Our Animals. Our Plants and Our Butterflies. They cover the 3 ABC islands. A part of the proceeds go to the Curacao Animal Shelter.
