I am no doctor (don't even play one on TV) but I suspect dosage is important. In fact, I believe that scoplamine is used as an "interrogation drug" but I'd bet it's at a much higher dosage than I use when I dive.

I take Stugeron all the time I'm travelling - comes from experiencing chronic and severe travel sickness as a kid - planes, buses, cars, and of course boats. Never been travel sick in the last 20 years (so far).

I also had what the doctors called vestibulitis last year - serious inner ear infection for which I was prescribed SERC. It sort of worked though I was pretty sick for a week or more. They also gave me Stugeron as an alternative to fix vertigo and nausea caused by the infection, though at a much higher dose than is recommended for travelling

So my advice (probably seriously anti-medical advice) is buy some Stugeron (active ingredient cinarazine) from the chemist (in UK anyway) and maybe try a higher dose than on the packet

PS I'm not a real doc !

Um... I wouldn't dive while wearing the Scopolamine patch. I did, and I suspect that at depth, the pressure causes the patch to release vastly greater quantities of medication than on the surface. While I was at depth, I felt nauseous, lightheaded, and ended up with a headache that lasted for about an hour afterwards. When I got back on-board the boat, I took the patch off. (or I may have gotten mildly narc'd?) I've never experienced those symptoms again, even on deeper dives, since I quit using the patch.

If I were to use it again, I would put it on the night before, before going to bed, and then keep it on until it was time to gear up on the boat. At that point, I'd either toss it, or carefully place it a Ziplock baggie so I could put it on again, once the dive was finished.

My two psi worth...
