I realized a few days ago that my beverage drinking pattern changes as the summer months approach. During the rest of the year my poison of choice would normally be Dr. Pepper (especially the real Dr. Pepper), but as it warms up I find that I drink more Mello Yello. I suppose it comes from the fact that growing up the only time we spent in AL was during the summer months, and back then, this was the only place I could get it.

So here is the question I pose....

Do you drink a different beverage during the warm months than the rest of the year?

Looking to keep this away from the alcohol route. And besides, I drink margaritas and slam tequilla and soju all year long anyway. ;)

in the summer i tend to stay away from dark pop/soda. Being in Chicago....i truly miss going to Sonic...they have this drink..i believe its a cherry limeade....something like that...yummy...very refreshing,

and a Squirt isn't a bad choice as well!

It seems to me, I stick to an apple juice water mîx no matter what the season (about 1/4 juice).

And yes, we do have different temperatures throughout the year! :eyebrow:

During the winter I drink way too much coffee. During the summer I drink way too much iced coffee.

Lately, I have also been on a seltzer water kick. It is available around here in 12 oz. cans so it is convient. It is nothing but carbonated water. No calories or salts. But the bubbles really quench one's thrist.

My dentist went bullistic when we got on the subject of soda machines in the schools. He felt it was better for a person to eat a candy bar once in awhile then to drink soda. He felt it is the acid that causes teeth to decay not the sugar. Soda is full of acid. Also the worst soda to drink is Mountain Dew, so he had said.:D

During the summer months, I drink Jack Daniels. During the cold winters, I drink Jack Daniels. No need to switch over because the seasons change.

:o)

Sorry! Didnt see the fine print till after I posted

I try to stay away from carbonated stuff--soooo bad for the bones. Did you know? I didn't for years. Hope it's not too late!

Anyway, when it starts to warm up, I find that my appetite tends to decrease. A lot of the time, all I want is something to drink--something cool and creamy.

The juice bars at airports and malls make smoothies that can be pretty good, but they're no comparison with what you can make at home. (They add too many ice cubes.) Here's one we did last night:

2 cups melon pieces (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew)
1/3 cup white grape juice concentrate
3 frozen bananas, cut into 2" lengths.

Liquefy in blender (Vita Mix if you have one). Mmmmm!

This one is out of this world:
1 cup each:
Fresh mango, fresh papaya, fresh pineapple, and frozen banana.

Add 1/2 cup each:
orange juice concentrate and coconut milk.

Soooo good!

You can come up with all sorts of combinations, using strawberries, peaches, grapes, or whatever fruit you happen to have.

You can freeze the smoothie in 4-oz dixie cups; put a popsickle stick in the middle for a nice low-cal dessert the kids will love, too.

Route 44 Cherry Limeades...yummy-licious! I also like Sonic's Strawberry Slushes, too (in Route 44 size, as well).

Usually iced tea or lemonade in the summer. Iced tea, tea, and hot cocoa the rest of the year.

Have got to say, Iced Green Tea and bottled water in the summer and hot tea (brought back from England) during the winter. May never drink another coffee again after the unwanted affects it had on me when I supposedly went for a boat dive yesterday. ;)
