Summer dive buddies?

Hi all-

I'm moving down to LA for the summer to study for the bar and was hoping to get some diving in on weekends and after bar class. Basically, when I'm not studying, I'd like to be diving. I'm a pretty new diver (by the time I get down to LA, probably 20-30 dives and AOW/Nitrox), but am competent, safe, and in control of my buoyancy. I learned to dive in Monterey, so the cold is no problem. I also have my own equipment.

I'm looking for dive buddies for the summer and for when I ultimately move back to LA. I'm going to be in Santa Monica, but don't mind driving reasonable distances.

If it matters, I'm 25, female, grew up in Santa Monica. I will be a lawyer assuming I pass the bar, but please don't hold that against me. I'd love to tag along on boat diving, shore diving, etc. If you're interested in hanging out, shoot me an email!

Not sure when you'll be down, but alot of us on this bulletin board go diving in laguna, or redondo, catalina etc. Just look out for postings and reply or submit one of your own. I just started meeting some of the people from the scubaboard, and had some great dives already. You are welcome to join if you are in the area.

Yeah, but that makes you feisty and fun, and a must-not-miss dive buddy on the SoCal Kelp Diver Tour!!! Some people have to fake an attitude...you've got the real deal! Don't change...unless you want to and then we would all figure out how to cope...eventually...so just don't!

Welcome, Valerie! Just what John and Roy said...watch the threads, or start your own, and divers will gather. Your biggest challenge, other than Shaka, might be getting enough surface intervals to study adequately! Looking forward to diving with you...beach, boat, and rocks.

I just started diving also and in the last week ive dove with 3 people from scubaboard (Pasley, SNOBORDJON, and abrown320) and all dives have been great.... Its just nice to know that the scuba community here in so cal doesnt let the "im better than you" people in ... Come dive with us anytime...

Also let me be the first to say im sorry.... my dad and almost half his side of the family are lawyers.. hah

Thanks, you guys! I'm excited about meeting you and I guess I'll post something myself/respond to a post when I get down to LA. Here's to a fun summer of diving! (still in denial that I have to study to pass the bar...)

There's also southcoastdivers. They meet at 7:30 am every Saturday to dive somewhere in Laguna. Everybody is always welcome to join them.
