Well Diveheart just finished its 4th trip to the keys with persons with disabilities this last week. We have also completed two of 3 picnics at Haigh Quarry in Kankakee, IL. Below are just a few of the articles of recent activities.
Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education Travels to the Flordia Keys
The James E Lockwood Jr. School of Diving and Underwater Technology at the Florida Keys Community College is once again the backdrop for a Diveheart scuba adventure trip with young people with disabilities from the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education August 12-17
..A Lockwood grant helped the FKCC establish the new Lockwood School as well as scholarships for several Diveheart participants with disabilities this year.

Sunday, August 9th active Navy Hospital Corpsmen from Great Lakes Naval base and Marine and Army veterans joined dozens of Diveheart volunteers to give children, adults and veterans with disabilities an incredible day of diving and fun During Divehearts Dive/Picnic Summer Celebration at Haigh Quarry (Home - Haigh Quarry - The Place for Scuba Diving in Northern Illinois) in Kankakee, IL. The divers included children, young adults, and veterans with autism, visual impairments, traumatic brain injury, cerebral Palsy as well as other disabilities. Some of those attending are participants and buddies from Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education Roosevelt (ICRE-R) who left August 12th on a life changing Diveheart Scuba Adventure trip to the Florida Keys.

Born without arms, Jessica Cox Learns to fly again, this time in the water
Jessica Cox, from Tucson Arizona, is a pilot and nationally recognized motivational speaker. She has faced challenges that make most of our daily woes look minuscule in comparison. Her quest has brought her to Diveheart hoping to add another adventurous and challenging experience to her list of accomplishments. The Holiday Inn Select in Naperville once again opened up its pool for Diveheart to conduct Jessica's training.

Where is Capt Slate?
Diveheart team members from around the country converge on Atlantis dive center in Key Largo Florida Keys Diving Home Page with new divers with disabilities July 29-July 1st for a life changing scuba adventure trip. The team, who came from Michigan, Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Chicago & other regions of the country spent time training the new students at the Florida Keys Community College in Key West.
It is the Diveheart vision to turn sedentary time for individuals with disabilities into passionate, productive and career oriented time as divers with disabilities find out that scuba is the leading recreational activity in the world that can lead to a meaningful career in areas such as marine biology, oceanography, underwater archeology, photography and more.
