Hi All,

Any suggestions on nice resorts for Pulau Perhentian Besar/Kecil for nice dives plus chill. Will be heading there with a non-diver, so a nice beach would be good. So far i've found Bubbles Dive Centre. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

Pulau perhentian kecil has small but nice beach, less people, and several dive shop. I went to Stevefen dive shop, it was okay, stuff very friendly.

Bubbles is ok. Beach is secluded. Non diver can go snorkling. The non divers went snorkling on the house reef and saw a small black tip so there are things to see. As for you divers, you must go diving at Tokong Laut.

I second the the recomendation from Flian.
steffen sea sports on Perhentian Kecil Pulau Weh & Perhentian Dive | Steffen Sea Sports

Just come back from a weeks diving there. Visibility was not the best as we had some heavy rain and winds in the evenings but still great diving.
You must dive Tokong Laut (Temple of the Sea). I did 3 dives on this site and would happily have gone back for 3 more. Load to see and the coral is in good condition.
Also Teluk Kerma (D'Lagoon) well worth a late afternoon dive. The cleaning station gives a good manicure and the big rays are very patient for the amateur photographer.

If you are prepared to go on spec you can get fantastic bargins. The new resort at the north end of the bay was offering rooms at 98 ringit/night with Aircon, Satelite TV, for walkins. Prebooked was 180/night, sorry cannot remember the name. Call Ricky on +6016.3310.933 they will know:D

Steffen Seasports is not bad. I just (2 weeks ago) did some dives with Turtle Bay Divers. Both are not bad.
Tokong Laut is good. I saw my first big Seahorses diving the Vietnamese Wreck (not much left) with Seahorse Drift.

On P. Kecil Coral Bay is quieter, not so hot and more cozy, while Long Beach is more happening.
My suggestion is stay on Coral Bay (Maia Chalet for something simple, else try Senja; The name of the new one is Shari-La, just at the Jetty, but there's some construction going on so make sure what room you get and it's to sterile for me, no character) and go over to Long Beach (5-10 min walk) for party and the nicer beach now and then.
Just call Ricky (from Steffens), or look for Shikin (a travel agent) at the Jetty, she normaly knows what offers there are. She also should be able to sell you a boat ticket.

There's a group of huge Bumpheads just behind the jetty on Long Beach. And from Coral Bay cross over to the "Secret Beach", we saw Octopus and Cuttlefish there snorkeling. Three years ago I saw two Black-Tips there, too.

If you have a lot of time (and don't mind the money) make a day trip to Redang, the visibility there is better.

And try the shakes. My favourite is the Snickers-Shake, with a close second Mango-Shake. Power!
And the BBQ at night (try the one at Coral Bay). Banana Pancakes for breakfast!

One last note: Make sure to actually call the Jetty or tell your Resort to book a place on the boat for the day you want to leave. If not there are not enough boats and either they are dangerously overcrowded or some have to stay on the island...

yo jay, how many of you guys are going, we will be going on 19 to 21 of september or even extend to 22. if you can join us, it would be even better...

Hey Ronald,

I was planning on going exactly the same dates. However, i've cancelled my booking due to the monsoon scare.
I was planning on heading to tuna bay resort.
I'm back on vacation anyway, but will call up the resort if I see the weather's fine.
Might go on a weekday and just head there, dont think it'll be full anyway.
