We are planning a vacation to visit family in Memphis in July. Any suggestions for local dive sites? What about sites within a 50 mile radius?

There are no dive sites within 50 miles of Memphis. People here tend to risk around 3 hours of corrupt Arkansas speed traps to get the nearest well known dive site.

Can you dive Horseshoe Lake? Also there are a couple of lakes just across the line into Mississippi that could be diveable. Probably nothing to see in them though.

We had a thread a while back called the "Memphis Dive Spot" challenge. People recounted their experiences with the different area lakes. Basically, there's nothing.
If Sand Pit lake wasn't used for sand dredging, it might make a decent dive park.
