Hi,
I have a sealife DC600 w/ flash. The case leaked and the camera is shot. I have decided to go with a Canon since I am comfortable with them . I have an S5is,but the Ikelite case for it is $700+ . I also read there was a possible leak with that case?? I do dive past 60 feet and would like to use my old flash on the new setup(if possible). It would be nice if I could bring one camera on vacation. I would like a suggestion for the dive photo community on what to do. I saw some Canon setups with the G9 and G10 they looked interesting with an oem case . I usually dive in the Caribbean several times a year. Cost maybe $800 +/-. Who do I buy from ?
Thanx for your help - Matt

If your all ready set on getting the G10 & WP-DC28, then purchasing it through B&H Camera is a good bet. Being in New York, you can go pick it up from them and bypass the internet.

Here's a good thread on G10 cases: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/canon-corner/283511-g10-housings.html I personally went with the Ikelite case, but if your thinking about travel options, the canon case is a nice compact cheap way to go. You just don't get access to all the buttons.

A good review of underwater camera setups: http://www.backscatter.com/learn/article/article.php?ID=57

Thanx Frank,
I am not really set on the g9- 10. I would prefer to get a good set up than pay once not twice. I will call backscatter. thanx again - matt

The G9 has better video options, but besides that the G10 is better across the board for still photography. I was in the same predicament, where I wanted to get a good setup and not have to upgrade in a year or two. I would start with the G10 and Oem case "since your travel oriented and want things to be compact" Then grow from there. Maybe look into the Patima or Seatool housing down the road, with a pair of strobes and maybe a wide angle or macro lens to seal the deal. Both the G9 and G10 are a great platform to grow with.
