It's about time I write a trip report :).

I’m over in the Philippines at the moment and just couldn't resist the allure of these impressive WWII giants slumbering in their aquatic graves.

Since GUE doesn’t have a wreck penetration course, I was quite fortunate to connect with Tech Asia (who recently earned their stripes as an official GUE facility). They provided a wreck instructor (trained through GUE Tech 2) who did a good job of honoring my GUE training/limits, show up as a GUE partner, while orienting me to unique hazards/considerations of the new environment.

It’s absolutely thrilling to slither down into the narrow dark silty corridors of a WWI ship with rich history that was scuttled over 70 years ago!

I’m not entirely sure which is more enticing, the history, deeper blue water and little passages of wrecks or the incredible splendor of decorated cenotes down in Mexico!

This little P&S camera did a pretty good job of capturing some of the adventure. Am certainly NOT claiming to be talented with a video camera, just sharing a bit of the adventure ;-).

Look forward to more wreck penetrations with GUE cave buddies ;-)!

Nice video, except it's an LST, not LTS ;). (My dad spent WW II riding around in one, from Virginia to the Pacific Theater.)

Great Kathy! Welcome to the best training ground for WWII Indo/Pacific Wrecks!

Your Instructors (Ferg and/or Sam) through Tech Asia, are two of the best trained and most experienced wreck/technical divers in the SE Asia & Oceania Region. They have been with me on trip expeditions to Sri Lanka (WWII Aircraft Carrier HMS Hermes) and Indonesia (Cruisers USS Houston & HMAS Perth), and I can vouch for their skill and knowledge applying the best practices, techniques and procedures to applied Overhead Wreck Penetration.

I hope you have a challenging and fun time during the excursion in Subic Bay, and looking forward to diving with you on a Tech Asia Wreck Expedition sometime in the future!:)

Those trips sound spectacular, but I'm only Cave 1 & Fundies certified so have a few classes before that level of technical penetration.

I'm in zero rush, but it is fun to dream ;-).
