I am seeking advice or opinions about the Sub Gear Accent BCD. I have an opportunity to obtain one for a good price,I think,$350.I was told that they are a product of Scuba Pro but other then that,I can find no other information except for the selling hype.

New or used? New it's a good price for a travel BC. Used it's about 100 bucks too much if it's in very good condition. Supposedly you can put 12 lbs in each pocket. That's nuts. If you do need that much weight you never want to do that. If you lose one pocket you lose half your ballast. Good way to get hurt from a rapid ascent.
the drings seem to be sewn in rather than held with a keeper. Common to many jacket bc's. Means someone else has decided where they should be, not you. I can't comfortably use a BC with pockets like this as you have to contort your arm to access them. An old shoulder injury makes the right side one pretty much useless.
It also says it has 40 lbs of lift. Completely unnecessary for a travel BC.
If you can get it for that price new it's ok but realize if you plan to take your diving in other directions later on it may not work well.
Many of us got caught up in good deals early in our diving only to find out it cost us in the long run. Out of the $2500 worth of gear I bought the first six months over half was replaced a few months later when I found out it was not appropriate for the direction I was headed. I could have bought once and saved a good chunk of money.

I might add that this is the Accent and not the Accent LT. I did notice in pictures that the weight pockets on the two differ. The price is for a new Accent BTW. I was hoping this BCD would double for temperate water here in Ohio and also go to the tropics with me.I really appreciate your honest opinions.Thank you.

Jim,
You mention that you can put 12 pounds of weight in each pocket and that if i loose one pocket of weights,I would lose half of my ballast and it could make for a rapid ascent.I agree that that would be something that could cause harmful results. How do you get around that so it doesn't happen.Back in the day,I just wore one weight belt,we didn't have weight intregagted BC's back then.
