Don Jammi, you may want to wait for the release of the Sea & Sea YS110. From what I read and see on the net it has three bulbs versus Inon's two and has a focus light like the Inon D2000. It also has the option of the fiber optic cable or a 5 pin synch cord.

This strobe may be better than the Inon.

Do you know when? I was thinking about getting one before a Bahamas trip mid August.

Thanks for the referral Gilligan.

In this case, the Inon D-2000 or Z-240 (d-2000w are all gone) or the hardwired strobe would be a great choice.

If it were me, I'd go with the Inon optical cable. In my experience S-TTL is just as accurate as is hard wired ttl, and you can't flood the cable. The system also costs less.

I'm not optimistic about the YS-110, it claims a lot, and is at this point vaporware. I've seen the struggles Ikelite and Inon have had in perfecting their sophisticated systems, so I know what Sea & Sea is up against.

Thanks for the suggestions Ryan. Are you out of stock on the D2000Wn or are they discontinued? Does the Z-240 have the 5 pin Nikonos connector?

I'm in Ft. Lauderdale 2nd week in August for a Nekton trip to the Bahamas. I've been thinking that might be a good time to get one.

The D-2000wn has been discontinued by Inon Japan, Inon America is sold out, and we have 1 left... Actually we were sold out yesterday, but another customer switched his order to the z240, freeing one up.

The line has been pared down to the D-2000S (optical only, S-TTL & 13 power settings, no focus light$459), the D-2000 (optical only, S-TTL, External Auto, 13 power settings, focus/aiming light, $539), and the Z-240 (optical & electrical, S-TTL, External Auto, 13 Power Settings, focus/aiming light, $749).

The D-2000WN was really popular for us, fitting in right between the D-2000 and the Z-240, and I'm sorry to see it go.

Give us some notice when you are in the area, and we'll make sure we have in just what you are looking for. Also don't be surprised to see us on the boat giving a brief underwater photography presentation before your trip!

I have the old Inon D-180 w/optical and love it. It is simple to use and has given me great service. I really have no experience with other strobes so I can't compare based on personal use. I will say that when I researched strobes, I liked the Inon line much better than the others that I looked at. This is partially due to ease of use for me.
