Guys and Gals,

Looking for some help. I recently purchased my first camera and housing(Canon S90/ikelte) and have decided to add a strobe. I have done my research and settled on the Sea & Sea YS-01. I have contacted my 2 local dive shops and have done some Internet research on pricing for the whole setup and am a bit confused on the pricing. The prices are all over the place. The first LDS I called quoted me 650 and the 2nd quoted 460 while the Internet pricing is somewhere in between. My question is what are the real differences in the arm/tray/fiber optic setup? Are they really that different and are some really that much better than others? Since the strobe is the same I'm assuming the setup has to be the real difference in cost unless my other lds really marks the product up that much.

The might have quoted you different packages.

There is the strobe head, and basically 2 types of arm/tray set. The grip tray just has a stationary handle where you basically can only aim the flash head, and the other arm is the Sea Arm VII, which has multiple joints. thus allowing more flexibility in the strobe's placement. So you could have been quoted for just the strobe to something with an arm and possibly fiber optic cable and mask.

If you go to Bluewater photo a YS01 is $429. The setup of the trays makes a big difference. Give Scott a call and he will set you up.

We also have some packages of the YS-01 strobe plus tray and arm (and sync cord). Check it out and let us know if you have any questions.
