I've been thinking about buying some lighting equipment for a while now and just got an idea wich I would like some advice/comments on.

A lot of people use dual strobes for even lighting but my budget doesn't really allow me to buy 2 strobes. So I came up with the idea of getting one strobe and use a reflector (like in studio's) on the other side to bounce light back on the subject from another angle.
Of course the reflection light won't be as strong as an extra strobe but it will function as fill light, so that the shadows won't be so dark and strong.

Does anyone use this technique or does anyone have some advice on how I can accomplish this?

thanks in advance for the replies

I think you find that when you use two strobes for wide angle work that the two strobes are pointing straight ahead or a little away from each other to get the even coverage. I dont think you will be able to get the same effect your after as your strobe will be pointing at the subject and not at the reflector to get the bounce.

But on the other hand you can take alot of excellent photos with the use of a single strobe and be more creative with the strobes position. Using the single strobe to light up an area you want on the subject and have the dark shadows to bring out a contrasting effect.
