1st of all hi to all ppl on this forum, I'm very new here. After almost 3 years of pause due to (by my opinion) some crazy diving laws in Croatia I decide to return to diving and thing what I love the most photography. As i have some old analog UW camera I decide to get something better. I have Canon20D for sport photography but for UW i buy Olympus 7070 and PT27 housing for him. I was asking sellers in Croatia about aditional external flash for him but they have only original Oly strobes (FL20 and FL36 with housings for them). But as I don't think that's best opinion can you tell me what's best choce for my setup. To use 1 or 2 strobes or everything else I will be very happy to get some help from you.

Thnx in andvanced.

I use Inon 2000D but I believe I already told you that (on our local forum? www.adriaticdiving.com)...

Please fill in your profile and people will be much more helpfull...

btw. welcome to scubaboard

I'm using a Sea & Sea YS-90auto that I've had for a couple of years (used to use it on my Oly 4040).

It has always been a very good performer. Recently I added the TTL adaptor from Heinrich which is working very nicely and connects between the camara and the strobe flawlessly.

Lots of strobes out there with lots of options.......

So we have almost same opinion. I see Heinrich TTL adaptor and think about him too and about this 3 strobes which I found:
- Inon Z220
- Sea&Sea YS60
- Sea&Sea YS90

AbQdiver, I have an Olympus C-7070 w/ PT-027 housing and I just picked up both a Sea & Sea YS-120 TTL Duo and a YS-90 TTL Duo. Based on your response above I just looked at the Heinrich sight and it looks like the OLY-TTL-PT-N1 connector is the one they make for it. Sounds like you would recommend that connector? I do have a Nikonos 5 pin cable with the strobes. How does the connector hook to the camera (inside the housing)? I haven't been diving with the strobes yet but the cordless slave function seems to work well on dry runs. I am assuming that the cable will allow the camera to control the flash (TTL) where the strobes on slave function are solely manual? What is the real advantage?

Trying to learn and figure out the best set-up for the products I now have. It is a bit confusing. I think it has potential to be a great set-up.

Also what kind of mounting bracket would anyone recommend for these strobes with an olympus PT-027 housing. The Sea & Sea arm light double looks pretty good and simple. I usually find that simple is good especially when hauling lots of other gear around.

Thanks

Matthias supplies a replacement bulkhead which is really easy to self install . Included is a connector to the cameras hotshoe .Using this setup you will get Oly TTL for your strobes with a Nikonos / S&S sync cable.I have been using this setup for a while now and am very happy with the results .If you want to go this route just e-mail Matthias , tell him which camera / housing / strobe setup you have and he will send you the correct parts and maybe give you some advice as well , he is very helpful .

I am patiently awaiting the arrival of the Sea & Sea YS 110 - it has a built in focus light which will help with the 7070's poor low light focusing ability.
