I never had this problem before because I just used a disposable camera housing and a slave strobe that had no diffuser.

I just got the Ikelite Auto 35 point and shoot type camera and there is a diffuser that came with the strobe.

A leaflet with the equipment states that the diffuser is for anything shot with film speed of 400 and faster. I know every shot has it's own circumstances but is there a list of definite times I would want to use the diffuser besides highly reflective surfaces and other conditions where there is great potencial of overlighting a situation?
