Strobe Basics, Please!

Before I invest in a strobe, to add to the Oly 5050, What benefits could be expected? Better colors, Greater distance,ect.
Most of my diving has been in Caribbean waters, with 100ft visiblity.

A strobe will provide the light you need to showcase natural colors. No strobe is going to be much good past 3-5 ft. Great for macros, fish portraits, etc. but useless for wide angle except for lighting something close in the frame.
