Did they already open? I should take a trip down there to check out the new store...oh and drop off Patrick's doubles that I've had for a couple of months. ;)

Chuck Tribolet:
Would the acquired shop be Diveleader Scuba Adventures, or
Scuba Plus, (neither of which has a functioning webpage at the
moment) or some other Stockton shop I don't know about?
hi chuck! dophin dive took over the scuba plus store. they have been open for a little over a month. i was down at dolphin dive sac yesterday and talking to mike johnson (the owner) sound like they are doing well. they will be pumping nitrox soon. they have all of the equipment, but they just need to hook it al up. hi scott, if you see pat, tell him high and good luck for me i didn't knoe that he was going to the new store until he was already down there and running it. ken

Chuck Tribolet:
Are they operating the Stockton shop under the Dolphin name?

I'm asking this because I maintain a list of Nor Cal dive shops at
http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/ba_diving/links/shops.html

Hi Chuck,

I was by there the other day, and they do in fact, have the Dolphin logo out front. I didn't check to see if the old "Scuba Plus" sign that you see from I-5 is down or not.

How's the inventory? I guess it's not as big as Sac (the biggest retail dive shop in CA right?)

This is great news. I got the notice in the mail last week. It's only 30 minutes from my place (well, 30 mins. in the wrong direction from Monterey, but still, closer than Sac.)

I just wonder what happened to Gary, the owner of Scuba Plus. He used to manage Dolphin in Sac, then ended up owning Scuba Plus.

I did my Dive Control Specialist training with them a few years ago. It was not a good experience for me and I thought Gary ran a crappy operation. Yes, I'm still bitter ;) FWIW, I thought Gary was an OK guy, and a knowledgeable commercial/technical diver. That's why I chose to learn from him. It's when he had me start working with other instructors that things went south.

The inventory is not as big, however, they told me on Monday when I was in there again that they'd be able to get anything that the Sac. store has in 1 working day.

They'll have Nitrox pumping next week, but have no plans to introduce Helium or Argon fills.

I've been in the store and Patrick the manager is a really nice guy but this is yet another dive shop that does not demo their gear. Why would you have a pool and all this EXPENSIVE gear and not let people try it before they buy it?
