I've always favored the snorkel over the dive. Like was previously said, the dive gets boring for me after about 10 minutes. The snorkel area gets very crowded when there are multiple cruise ships in town, but I've had times when the boat I was on was the only boat there. Check out Ship Schedules (don't bother to try and login, just pick the month and year from the drop-down in the center of the page.) A good day trip from SMB (again, when there are not cruise ships in town) is to drive out to Rum Point. It has a slightly different vibe then SMB. There is a snorkel trip that leaves from there a couple of times a day, or it's a short trip to Kaibo. You can also hit Starfish Point which is the best place on the island to see sea stars.

And the water is safe to drink. It's desalinated, purified sea water.

Have fun.
