There is a storm off Baja that may bring in high surf later in the week, but it was nice and calm this morning. With overcast sky, no wind and no current I anticipated a great dive day. The visibility at Halfway Reef could have been better but it wasn't awful.

A large urchin had taken up residence on top of the Bispira turneri worm. It was soon relocated but the worm never opened for me. There are a lot of new and old Peltodoris mullineri egg coils on the reef but I only found two of the egg-layers themselves

Visibility was a hazy fifteen feet with 55° and no water movement!

Hey, nice photos!

I'm planning a trip to Casino Point on Sunday. Do you think I should reschedule?

The surf is only supposed to last until Thursday so you should be safe.
Although if it's as big as forecast, shore diving this weekend might be a bust (again) with everything still stirred up. Surf last weekend, coupled with really hot temperatures, even got my wife into the water with me at Casino Point to cool off, and we had a great time. I'm thinking maybe I should try to two weekends in a row at the dive park

And as always, great images, which I thoroughly enjoyed, in what was undoubtedly awful conditions

The vis wasn't great but the swells are out of the south, so Palos Verdes is protected by Catalina and San Clemente Islands. We only had one foot surf today. I hope the predicted high surf also comes from the south. I'd probably avoid Laguna Beach for the next few days, though.

And all the south facing beaches in Malibu
