My first dive computer is a Shearwater Teric which I still have. Before that I did all dive tables and paper logs.

I realize there’s a way to set the “next dive number” on the computer but I didn’t think about that setting when I started using the computer so the dives on the computer start with 1.

I set up a Shearwater cloud login and I was going to sync my dives but I would like the list to be accurate if possible. Specifically, I would like to manually enter my paper dives and change the starting dive number on my computer so that when it syncs, the logs from the computer will start after my manually entered paper logs.

So I guess I have 2 questions…

Can I manually add paper dive logs to the Shearwater cloud?

Can I change the dive computer starting dive number and have the remaining dives adjust sequentially?

If the above is not possible, any thoughts on how to achieve what I want?

Thanks in advance for any help.

From the FAQ for the SW Cloud on the SW website:

I think I've seen this somewhere but cannot find it. Sorry. I suggest you ask in the Shearwater Cloud Forum: Shearwater Cloud

Yes, you can adjust the first dive logged to any number you want.

Just to clarify... I have about 40 paper logged dives with tables. Since getting my computer, I have about 100 dives on the computer. I did not set the "next dive number" setting on the computer before starting so they start with dive #1. Ideally, what I would like to do is:

1. Manually enter my 40 paper log dives into the cloud app.
2. Offset all my computer dive numbers by 40.
3. Sync my computer so the uploaded dives show up after my manually entered ones.

I see from the Shearwater website you can’t manually add dives. Maybe I’ll look at Subsurface or an online dive log instead. That way if I decide to go to a Garmin or other brand, it won’t matter.

If you really want your Teric dives to have the correct number, you can manually adjust the dive number on your Teric for each dive individually. Start with the last one first so that you're making dive #100 into #140, then #99 into #139, etc., so that you're not trying to make dive #1 into dive #41 while #41 still exists. I understand this is a lot of work. Unfortunately changing dive numbers on the Shearwater Cloud doesn't change them on the Teric.

Whatever you do, you can adjust the next dive log number feature now to be the correct number so that future dives are logged correctly.

That's makes sense and I actually was wondering if starting at the end would be needed for the reason you already mentioned. Thanks for the reply. Considering there's only 100 dives, it should take too long. Take care.

Can confirm, I have a Teric and recently did the same thing. Went and renumbered my Shearwater Cloud dives (which started at #1) adding the couple hundred dives I'd done previously on an old computer I can't import from. Then you can go into the dive log on the Teric, click on settings, and change the "next dive number" to be whatever fits next after the renumbered dives in the cloud.

Would be nice if they someday allowed you to manually add dives. They can also make the Windows desktop version of cloud a bit less clunky, I'd like to see that last row in my dive log sometime!
