WINAIR doesn't enforce the normal airlines rules (or at least they didn't use to) regarding carry-ons having to fit in the overhead or under the seat in front of you. However, for my own comfort, even if it's only a 12 minute flight, I usually bring my dive gear to the plane and then gate-check it as I board.
May I ask where you found the $75 RT ticket? That's a very good price - I've flown over there many times (always in December tho) since 1994 and I can't recall ever paying less than $80. Thanks.

Max - I agree, leave the shears & knife home or clip on a Z knife if line entanglement is your concern. Worrying is what a mom does, my mom is always worried when I dive & let's see - I'm old enough to be your mom & then some! I worry when my other half goes without me & make him call me as soon as the boat docks. Saba is a very cool place to dive & you are fortunate to have the opportunity. Make sure to thank mom for allowing you to go! (I know now I sound like a mom, but trust me these things go a long way.)
Last time I stayed at Divi (Jan 2004) they had a little dive op right on their beach & rented tanks & weights there. We snorkeled & dove from the beach & while it wasn't the greatest, it beat sitting on the beach sucking down fruity drinks. I'm not sure who established the park, but they have a catamaran with a platform suspended below for skills demonstration, part of a plane & some other stuff. An easy swim, snorkel or dive.
Last trip a friend needed to do a tune up & we ended up there. Middle of the afternoon, maybe 2:00 pm, about 25 feet of water we see a 3 foot Barracuda attack & eat a decent size fish about 2 feet away from me. Just proves you never can tell what you will find on any dive. Have fun, dive safe & post a trip report upon your return.
Sam - I think WinAir runs some specials from time to time. I recall seeing tix as low as $25 or $29 one way. I've generally seen the sales whilst on SXM. At that price it's cheaper to fly then ferry.
