No immediate plans but always looking ahead to the next planning for a dive trip for hubby ( this non-diver does the planning).... we are going to Curacao for the first time in late November and are already booked for a Roatan/Guanaja trip for April... I would love some comparisons or feedback about those mentioned or any others that would be new to us. Last dive trip was December back to Bequia at hubby's request- he loves it there if that helps in opinions.

Do you want something to do while he is diving?
What does he do for a buddy?
Boat or shore diving?
What did he like about Bequia?

Boat diving for sure- no shore diving. He has always been ok on boat dives without a buddy ahead of time- we always say when we book that he does not have a buddy-
I am a water lover- these days I really love a gentle, easy entry beach (2 artificial knees)but a pool is ok where there is no beach- I walk on the beach, poke around shops (not really a shopper) with local or handmade crafts/art, etc if possible, read, chill out- happy to spend 1/2 day (mornings) alone. In Bequia it was very easy for me to walk to town or across the Belmont Walkway to the beach. In Roatan in West End I walked into the main area of the settlement every morning, swam, went on 2 snorkel trips from the dive op. In Little Cayman I was brave enough to drive our rental car around, swam, enjoyed the peace and quiet. In Belize on a tiny private island resort, Coco Plum, I snorkeled off the dock and lazed in over the water palapa covered hammocks. Those are just some examples- I am not a hiker obviously but in Grenada we took a private day tour of the chocolate makers, the nutmeg "plant" and went to an easy to access waterfall, etc. I am a retired school counselor and former history teacher so I love to meet locals, learn about the culture, food, traditions, etc. of a place.
He says that what he enjoyed most about Bequia was "the total chill"- could walk everywhere (including the dive shop), loved the people at Dive Bequia and the small group dives- sometimes just he, a dive master and a boat driver. The first trip we stayed up high in Belmont and rented a car- this trip we very deliberately chose a waterfront cottage at the Bequia Plantation Resort to not have to drive.
Sorry so long- does that help?

Yes, that helps. Based on this, I think Statia might be just what you are looking for. Scubaqua and the Old Gin House might be just right.

thank you so much for your time and your advice- I will research! About Statia though, what do you think of Golden Rock? Just wonder.
I just looked at the Old Gin House and it looks perfect!!
One more question, if I may- is there a particular month of the year that the diving would be better on Statia?

i believe Golden Rock is kind of isolated and not an easy walk to anywhere, I do not know about its beach/snorkeling/diving.
Here is an Undercurrent article on Statia: Golden Rock Dive Center, St. Eustatius: Undercurrent 09/2022

I've only been there in June.
Here is the climatology:

Statia and Saba are now connected by short ferry ride. Easy to do both places now. Saba was excellent a few months ago

great~ I also see that St. Kitts ferry or boat trip to Statia is possible (if air routes are better)..

It's all the same company., Makana. All the flights on those four Islands go through St Martin. The ferry goes direct from all the islands to all the others.
Visibility varies daily. Usually decent but sometimes poor.... sometimes excellent.
