I am thinking about heading to St Lucia at the end of May. Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodations and/or a diving company?

Why St. Lucia? I'm just asking because I'm not aware that St. Lucia is really a SCUBA diving site. There are loads of sports fishing charters but no SCUBA charters that I know of.

Sodwana which is about 2 hours drive north of St. Lucia on the other hand have dive charters around every corner. I have only dived with Triton (Triton Dive Charters, Sodwana Bay Welcome Page) whos accommodation and facilities was very good and their dive operations just as good. Other options would be Coral Divers (Coral Divers), ReafTeach (Scuba Diving South Africa Sodwana bay - Dive Sodwana Bay), Sea Escapes (Sea Escapes - The Ultimate Scuba Diving Experience at Sodwana Bay) or Sodwana Bay Lodge (Sodwana Bay Lodge - Diving, Fishing, Game Viewing, Adventure). I can't vouch for any of these charters but I've heard good things of Coral Divers and I have seen their facilities which is very nice indeed. They are also very conveniently located (being the only charter actually inside the marine reserve). Sodwana Bay Lodge also have superb facilities but it comes at a bit of a price though.

I dove ther 2 years ago and the diving was pretty good. lots of life on the reefs. we dove in the marine reserve area. I dove with Dive Fair Helen. They were a good operation to go with and get a lot of positive reviews. They are located in Marigot Bay.

St Lucia has LOTS of wonderful diving! It's on my "to do" list for sure!

Dive St Lucia as well as Dive Fair Helen among many operators provide a wonderful diving adventure. If I am not mistaken, the area has been designated as an international "point of interest", but I can't remember the name of the award. You can find more about diving in St Lucia here: Caribbean diving caribbean vacation paradise, St. Lucia

I spent some time there a couple of years ago and had a great vacation with some freinds. We stayed in Marigot Bay Beach Resort. I didn't dive but snorkeled alot. There is a Marine Preserve at the base of the Pitons where we visited for part of a day. We hired a small boat and explored that area of the island. I believe the captains name was Cuthbert. Nice fellow. A boat trip to the capital was really an adventure. Good time. We bought a lobster off a local diver that was large enough to feed the four of us. The cook where we stayed fixed it for us to the dismay of the facility owner who featured smaller lobster on his menu that night.

We returned Sunday night from a week at Almond Morgan Bay and diving with Scuba Steve's. I recommend both and were highly pleased with Scuba Steve's attention to detail, knowledge and outlook on safety.

I am trying to write a trip report and hope to post it in the next day or two.
