St. John & St. Croix advice??

Finalizing plans and appreciate any more travel advice.

June 9-16 on St. John; 16-23 on St. Croix.

Anyone have feedback on a boat charter operation on St. John called "Lion in Da Sun"? We're looking for full day tour of the neighboring islands for a group of 6.

Any other advice or recomendations are appreciated.

From St. John, we did a full day tour with Majic Moments, which is a private tour on a 46 ft. Sea Ray. It is expensive, relative to some other trips. We'll worth it, though. They don't take more than 6 people, I think, but could have been 8 max. I am having St. John withdrawls thinking about it! I am hoping to get back this year ... so many places to see.

As for diving, I really liked Cruz Bay Watersports @ the Westin dock.

Scuba Monster: Magic Moments sounds great but.....$375 per person....ouch!!!!

Maybe someday with the wife but that experience would be lost on my 2 little boys.

Appreciate the tip on Cruz Bay Watersports.

It has been almost 2 1/2 years ... sort of forgot about the price! And your right about the boys. We also did another excursion with New Horizon's. It wasn't a sail boat, but they take you out early to see the Baths on Virgin Gorda. You do a little snorkeling, visit Pusser's @ Marina Cay for lunch, and end on Jost Van Dyke. We really liked that excursion too - more people but less $$. What ever operation you choose, I think an excursion around the BVI's is well worth it.

I highly recommend Cruz Bay Water sports, especially with kids. I finished my open water certification with them in Nov. 2004. As I mentioned earlier, we'll probably go back to St. John this year and I would like to get my advanced ow with them. I've logged 80+ dives since Nov. 2004 in different Caribbean destinations - Cruz Bay is still one of my favorite dive operations. I would definitely give them a try!

Also, here's a really good book for touring St. John topside ... St. John: Feet, Fins and 4-Wheel Drive, by Pam Gaffin.

Scuba monster: Thanks for the recommendation of Cruz Bay Watersports. I'll be booking something soon and have received some great advice here.

Seems like St. Croix has some great diving too. Trouble is that every scuba boat trip costs me a spa treatment for the wifey! Trade offs! She had already bought the book you recommended and has it dog-eared and underlined.

Gotta luv the SB community and their willingness to share advice and experiences. My first dives in Caribbean waters....counting down the days!!

I've heard good things about diving in St. Croix, but haven't been there, yet.

If you do a jeep tour and follow the guide, you'll find the book to be very helpful and true - even the part about the naked guy that likes to hang out on the nude beach!
