Merry Passage and I returned to the edge of Redondo Canyon for a blackwater/squid dive. Merry made a similar dive last Saturday hoping to photograph some salps and jellies. A bunch of squid crashed the party instead. We decided to shoot wide angle due to the sheer number of squid.

I jumped in first. Although it looks like I hit the squid jackpot, it was nothing compared to Merry's dive an hour later. She said it was difficult to photograph the squid because they were bombarding her.

Hopefully, they are on their way to Vet's. We were diving a few hundred feet west of the buoy.

I used strobes with my camera, but the fishing light illuminated a large area. It also produces enough heat that I could feel the warmth from five feet away in a drysuit. I must unplug it and let it cool in the water for a few minutes before pulling it back in.
