Squid Run at La Jolla Shores

Vincent, Jennifer and I headed out to La Jolla Shores tonight with the hopes of seeing a squid run. We were not disappointed. Here is a short video of some of what we saw.

Each of us had a scooter on tonight's dive. It is scary to think what would have happened if we had hit the trigger during the squid run!

Just south of V point. Not far. Basically in line with the La Jolla Shores restaurant.

We dove off La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club on Saturday morning and saw lots of dead squid in the sand at 70 feet, and a number of egg beds during our dive. The squid looked like they just died and there were a few who were still hanging on when we went by them

We were still swimming in squids when we reached the piece of bent pipe sticking out of the sand on top of the canyon.

It seems like most of them give up the ghost after laying eggs.

I usually saw the squid eggs at Redondo Beach comes late December, early January time, but then I didn't make it a habit to do a lot of shore diving.
