Any one know where I can find a pair of the Apollo spring straps? All I've been able to find comes with a new pair of fins.

Thanks

Boogie...YOU'RE the one I've been hinting for! Beast was telling of some spring straps he saw using shackles but I haven't been able to find them...I apparently wasn't looking in the right spot!

I found the Apollo straps at the link Cali provided but I'm not paying anyone $65 for a couple of springs! Plus you have to cut the knob off the fins, measure and drill holes to mount the straps. So not only would it cost a bunch, I'd have to mutilate my fins in the process...I don't think so!

I have a couple of questions.....I don't see any sizes, how would I adjust them if they are too long? Can I get them in 2 weeks in time for my trip?

Check Scuba.com (use to be diversdiscount). They have the Apollo spring straps that have a loop on the spring.

They are $85.00 for a pair. Ouch.

I have small feet and thje spring straps seemed too big for me, I ended up getting a extra pair of Apollo regular straps as backup for half the price. I have been using the Apollo biofins for several years with the original straps and they are still in like new shape.

Dee - I sent you a PM... but in essence:

If your fins have a post hub as seen in the picture, they will work just dandy. Now, some fins (like my Quattro's) had a small ridge of plastic between the hub and the boot. It doesn't need to be there, so for the shackle to fit nice and secure behind the post, you need to file it away. A dremel will do the tool in about 3 seconds flat.

I use 11" springs. I have worn my XL Quattro's with size 12 DUI rock boots in this combo.... that's about the maximum I would recommend before going to a set of S hooks or something, just to add an extra inch on either side. If the spring is too large, the solution is even simpler. Take the aforementioned Dremel and cut an inch off, and bend a new loop in place using a couple turns of the spring. Bam - you're done.

As for two weeks, I'm in Canada, you're in Texas... likely, but it will be close. I normally charge $37 including the postage anywhere in North America... for FedEx Ground (delivery in 8 business days) to Texas, total cost would be $41.

Thanks, Boogie!
