How do you choose among these two for night diving? Thanks.

I am an avid night and wreck diver.
I also frequent black tannin stained lakes and rivers.
I use a flood MR16 lamp. The beam varies between 36° and 40° depending on manufacturer. I use a 12 Volt 50 watt halogen lamp. The beam produces a 3-4 foot diameter spot at about 8 feet distance. Flood lamps create a very good even beam , Iko make some whiter versions I'm trying for video. I find the spot beams produce a hi intense center spot with not much useable side light.

I have a Kowalski flood light. I just wonder whether 100 degrees angle are too board for usual night dive. I read an article from Diver Net that recommends spot light for night dive. Is that really bother about beam angle? I am newbie.

Its a matter of personal taste. A flood lets you see more a spot lets you focus on one area without ruining you night vision. Personally I don't like turning my night dives into day dives with too much light.
