Hi,

I am heading to sipadan in june to go diving and I was wondering what the diving conditions are going to be like. Does any one know if June is a good time to go?

TravelSimone:
Yes, June is a good time to go. April to June is a fantastic time.

Just got back from dive Sipadan between 11-18 May 2007 - FANTASTIC!!!. All the BIG stuff are there. Saw 2 gigantic schools of barracudas - black finned and yellow finned on my 1st dive. Then followed by school of jacks, school of trevellis, school of bump head parrots and schools of fishes everywhere.

Got back today from Sipadan trip. 6 days total there. First three days, sunny and warm, last three, wet and very windy. The sea is getting rough and the crossing from Mabul to Sipadan gets very bumpy/rocky/puky/wet [not funny when the skipper can't see with his eyes smarted out by the sea spray].

The 'tough Sipadan season' starts now, according to the divemasters...

But the diving is SPECTACULAR !!!

I am planning to go in October. So if the 'though Sipadan season' start, what will October be like ? Does anybody know ? I have some diving experience but I would like to take it easy as well. Does anybody have some advise ? Thanks !

Dont get me wrong. Sipadan is dive-able all year round !
Strong winds simply make the crossing from Mabul/Semporna over to Sipadan longer and less comfortable.

But underwater its no different as I far as I can see!

Once you get to Sipadan, things will calm down a lot. [They will always dive the leeside] It's mostly the crossing that is rough.

And if conditions get a bit too rough, Mabul and Kapalai is still offers fantastic diving.
