Elmo, just a follow-up -- it took a bit of doing, but I got Subsurface installed under Ubuntu, and was able to built the stand-alone utility to convert the old .slg file to XML. Thanks again for the pointer to that.
Did you do a native compile or are you using wine?

Just for future reference: I have hooked up the .slg converter to a web service. Go to

https://thetheoreticaldiver.org/rch-cgi-bin/smtk2ssrf.pl

and upload your .slg file and you will get back a corresponding Subsurface xml.
Thanks, good to know. I assume this produces the same result as building and running smtk2ssrf on a local Linux machine? It seemed to go well when I did so, although some dives generated a few errors that I'll need to go back and fix.
