I've gotten hooked w/ lobstering, it gives m somthing worthwhile to do on all those 3rd reef dives. Now as we're coming to a close of lobster season - just what am I to do for the 2nd dive - look at the pretty fish and drift?

Interested in learning more about spearfishing. Where do you start? Whats the best way to learn the game fish, limits, size, safety protocol, gear, etc....?

1st, pick up a copy of the saltwater fishing regs & study them. There's your species, size, season dates & bag limits.

2nd, the best way to get up to speed is to go diving with someone who has some experience shooting fish & doesn't mind taking a newbie out.

Chad Carney actually teaches spearfishing, you might be interested in looking into that.

I don't know about Florida, but Hawaii Skin Diver is all about that...maybe you have a publication there? Check with your local Riffe dealer.

we have a lot of florida Spearo's on Deeperblue. and a section dedicated to beginners.

a good place to start
