Check out our SLX LED.

nocturnal lights rechargeable dive light, led dive light, lantern style dive light, canister dive light, lights, for scuba diving, technical diving, night diving, cave diving, and more.

The SLX is made to be a primary light but if you are looking for something that's as bright or brighter than a 20w halogen bulb, most of the compact "backup" lights will probably not be bright enough. The SLX has a burn time of up to 16 hours and is extremely reliable. The handle can be clipped on your BC when you're not using it, or you can just get the hand mount for it. Let me know if you have any questions regarding our products.

If remote locatin is an issue I would suggest a SLA battery pack. It's the only thing that can be charged off a 12 volt system (boat, car, truck, tractor, lawn mower, etc.) using only 2 wires and not have to worry about damaging your (expensive, not readily replaceable) battery pack. It's also the only battery you stand any chance of replacing in remote locations. To get a light like this you will have to order it, or find a used can in the size that you like and put on, or have installed the head of your choice (Think Salvo 21watt). I have built 2 lights like this and am very pleased with the performance and cost savings.

I'm currently quite happy with my Salvo LiIon 21W HID (10.4A) and PT LED. The new Oxy backups that are nearly out (5W LED) look like they might make exceptional smaller backups.

I would guess that Sartek could set you up with a SLA battery/can. They have about a zillion different arrangements to choose from.

Let us know what you decide on. I'm curious.
