Hi,

Looking forward to this season!

Anyone know of any good sites on the south shore for catching bugs?

How is the South shore diving in general compared to the north?

Thanks

There's a dive shop in Marshfield I called for temp. conditions last season. They said a couple of guys out the day before who caught 10+ each said it was... i don't remember what, but the point is that they caught a bunch of bugs.

I tend to do better on the NS, although there are very good spots down here as well. The things is parking is even more restricted on the SS, so there are not that many good accessible shore dives, but, two spots worth going are:

Brant Rock in Marsfield - just down the street from NAS dive shop

Gunnrock Beach in Hull - also a great night dive spot

Public parking at both places, brant rock is shallow, but, it's a huge area to work, gunnrock is a little deeper with a max around 40'.

Off season - Pegotty beach in scituate is nice too, just don't go near the "Forest Queen" end or residents will think you are "looting" the wreck (ie. it's totally enrusted remains) and call in the calvary.

I do alot of free diving for lobster around Cohasset, but, again lots of the sites are no parking (even for residents) or no tresspassing.

Sure, but the crust is on 70 lb. bars of oriental silver, so you can see where the folks with a claim might get uppity. :whack:

There was another big story on the "Forest Queen" in The Patriot Ledger a few weeks ago saying that they were sure there was more silver to be found on her. They had some pretty nice pics of portholes, silver-wear, dishes etc.

But, unless you are there to loot her, I guess her remains are so encrusted that it's not to much to look at.
