I know I'm reaching here, but.....

Anybody familiar with an OLD club in the Dunkirk/Fredonia NY area called South Shore Diving Club? They were small, used to teach in a nearby pool, dove Lake Erie and did some ice diving and local rescue work.

Just curious - my dad was a founding member in the late 50's - I don't know much else about it, if it continued after he moved or what. He quit diving after he moved - his wife, my mom, apparently didn't care much for him diving.

Well . . .
I'm from Dunkirk, lived here all my life. Just started diving 5 years ago. I know quite a lot about local history but I've never heard of the "South Shore Diving Club". I will ask around though and see what I can come up with.

For a faster result you may want to pose that question in the local rag "The Observer" in an editorial, people ask questions like that all the time.

I'm pretty sure Osprey Charters are close to you. Give them a call and ask if they have any information. I've been told they have been around since the mid 80's.

Osprey Charters is close, I don't know if they go back to the mid 80's though. But anyway here's a plug for them: I can't say enough good about the Herbert's (owners). They run a class act, if you ever want to dive some of the best preserved wrecks in the Great Lakes and with the best charter operator - then book with them, you won't be disappointed.

Anyway, Jimmy Herbert is the moderator for a forum on Osprey's website: Osprey Charters - Powered by vBulletin Create an account and log in. If Jimmy doesn't know about the "South Shore Diving Club" one of the forum members might.
