Hi folks, I'm new to site so I apologize now if I do something wrong. I am from St. Louis area and will be up vacationing first week of Aug. in South Haven and was hoping to find out where some good shore dive sites might be and if there is some place close there to get air fills. I will have kids so one or two days is the limit, but anyone that might have some time and wants to show off their favorite sites, I'm game. Thanks Tim

Shore dives really don't exist here. The City of Green Bay is "on the beach" now, due to low water levels, etc. The Havana and the Verano come and go since they lie in 50 feet of water and are subject to being covered and uncovered by sand, pushed around by ice and silted over.

Tim Marr at Advance Scuba in Holland runs a charter to the Ironsides in Grand Haven (120') and others in the area.

Not a deep dive at all...but can be fun to scrounge around the old pier heads at the north end of oval beach in Saugatuck. Typically find some old spikes, lots of bass, etc.

There was a buoy on the Havana but I heard it is missing again so we will have to mark it one more time this season. Visibility has been great with 20-30' on the wreck. We will try to get a market back on it before you come. A trip with Bob out of Wolf's is also a hands on history lesson in how the old fishing tugs were operated. The engine in the Elsie is something!

I dove the Havana Yesterday evening. There are a few jugs tied on to it. 46 ft of water. 52 degrees, vis. 25 ft. Lots of fun. I sailed my boat up to it set my anchor jumped in, theres a nice line to the wreck at 17 ft., Lots of fish down there. Total bottom time 30 mins. I definately want to go back. If anyone wants to go out leave a message.

Nate
