I was formerly lived, and was certified in Long Beach, so I did most of my beach diving in Laguna. Now that I live in Venice, I was interested in finding some new beach dives sites. I heard good things about Santa Monica and I know Redondo and Palos Verdes are great. Does anyone have any suggestions on any places in this range, including the above mentioned. How is parking and access?

Redondo (Vet's) is good....better for a night dive. There's lots of parking available, but it's metered, so bring your quarters.

PV has beautiful diving, but much of it is difficult to access. Marineland is a great site (a bit more advanced, as the entry and exit can be difficult), but has a long walk over a dirt trail. Parking is free, but not plentiful (most of it is reserved for the resort, but a small area for others) White Point has a very short walk to the water, but uneven rocks at the entry exit that make it difficult to get in/out....go at high tide on a calm day and it's not too bad. Parking is $2 before 9am and $6 after (may have changed since I was there last, but that's what it used to be). Malaga has a short but steep paved trail, but has quite iffy conditions. Parking is free at Malaga.

Many of the other sites have very steep trails that are not great for hauling gear up/down.

Malibu has a lot of great diving as well, and is probably not much further from you than PV. Laguna is still worth the drive, imo.
