I just borrowed some gear and have real dumb question. It has an ikelite substrobe mv. the question is what is the ttl/man switch for? sorry like I said total rook

M is for Manual exposure and TTL is for Through The Lens exposure. The MV has a narrow light beam angle best for macro or maybe a 35mm lens at 3ft.
I strongly recommend reading articles on the web or books about U/W photography.
