Was just gifted one of these housings. I know its an oldie but i'm having difficulty even on the 'net trying to find out what video cameras are compatible with it. Any help would be appreciated.

The housing was originally designed to enable CCD-F40, CCD-V9, CCD-SP7, CCD-F340, CCD-V90E and CCD-SP5E
This is an ad but has a little info about it: Sony Handycam Marine Pack Video Camera Housing for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand

There's actually an F40 for sale right now on eBay. But it needs work: http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-CCD-F40-VI...rofessional_Video_Cameras&hash=item27b17e6745

I occasionally see CCD-V9's there also. IIRC the V9 is a newer camera.

Does it have a flat front port (no magnification) If so, there's probably a lot of newer smaller cameras that can be made to fit. If not, then you need to find something you can also center in the port or it will distort.

Of course the controls probably won't work. But you could take the remote with you and start it pre-dive from outside the case if you can see the IR sensor. People with no-control tube housings do that. Then just edit out what you don't want later.

I actually saw that link for the first one. Its exactly the same housing. I just didn't read down far enough to see the compatible cameras as the auction was closed :dork2:

I am making a tubed housing but it's not finished yet and that won't have any controls so my plan was to edit. However the Sony housing is huge and my JVC Everio is lost inside it so I may go back in time and try and get one that was designed to fit.

Thanks for your reply
