Hi All- I just signed up a few weeks ago and have had zero time to explore the site.

Here's a question for ya:

I have a Sony Hi def video camera I bought new about 2 years ago. I do quite a bit traveling and have been diving with a Sony point and shoot (DSC-W170). I'm happy with the stills, but the video is not quite doing it for me anymore. So I started looking around for enclosures for the HDR-SR12. The Dive buddy EVO HD elite looks good, but the cheapest I’ve seen it is from Mozaik for $1,949.00 for what appears to be the basic case! Wow. That’s double the price of the camera.

Anyone out there knows of an alternative that still has access to the controls. Also, I’d consider a resale, assuming it was in excellent condition.

Thanks
Mark

Welcome to the world of underwater videography. My Sony HC1 costs on the order of $2000 when I bought it. The housing and lights were over $8000. I think if you can get set up for u/w video for less than $4 or 5000, you are doing fine.

Double the price of the camera for the housing? Not unusual at all. My Seatool HC3 DX housing was about 3x the cost of the camera when I bought it. By the way, an Ikelite housing for your camera should run you only around $1300, but you'll likely enjoy the Amphibico more.
