sony HDR-SR1 Has anyone used it?

Hi,

I am about to purchase a Sony HDR-SR1 with Amphibico housing.

Has anyone used it uw?

I am currently using Premier Pro 2 for editing and as I hear i 'll have problems with the AVCHD that it is using for the captured files....

Any suggestions? thx in advance

I can't say for sure, but I didn't think Premiere Pro 2 had the capability to edit the AVCHD file format. Perhaps there is a plug-in.

Personally, I'm staying away from it until its quality improves (it does have the potential).

Did you know Sony's just announced the HDR-SR5 and HDR-SR7? Both have larger drives than the SR1. The SR7 also has a better CMOS chip. Both to be released on July 13th if you can wait. And both are cheaper than the SR1 (list price).

The SR5 doesn't have a viewfinder, just an LCD screen. Which may work for you if you're buying an EVO HD Elite housing since it doesn't have a viewport.

AFAIK that's true and as far as I can tell, Adobe doesn't support it in the upcoming CS3 release either. At least they don't list it. I have read somewhere of a conversion process but the only one I've seen is for Mac Final Cut Pro users.

I've got the HDR-SR1. It's great...except for the touchscreen use underwater...not very intuitive. It is also not a great low-light camera...I need to get some lights.

I'm using Sony Vegas to work directly with the AVCHD clips and then rendering the movies in other formats.
