Sony HC1 with amphibico housing

I had this rig for awhile with good results in the clear waters of Florida.
Now the problem. The connection for the back screen is getting loose at the camcorder.
Now, I don't know how to blame. Does anybody have the same problem? if yes how do you fixed it?

I also have the Amphibico (Endeavor) housing but I have the video monitor/rear door combination. My advice is to give Amphibico a call at (514) 333-8666 or through their website http://www.amphibico.com/store/contact-us.html ask them what they recommend. If you perform a repair yourself and the housing subsequently floods, Amphibicao isn't likely to be much help.

Their housings are under warranty for 2 years for non-commercial users (1 year for parts AND Labor - 2nd year only parts). If you decide to send the housing back to Amphibico be advised; While shipping is cheap to their third party trans-shipper in Champlain, NY (I suggest this), their return shipping from Montreal. QC is around 150USD.

Being down in South Fla, you may be able to find a local U/W Video source for advice as well. I know Reef Photo & Video is down your way in Ft Lauderdale.


Another recommendation: I strongly suggest that you go a local electronics store and purchase two LANC plugs, either with very short cords or a simple male/female plug. Connect one to the Housing connector and one into your camera. Then only use the two (cheap) plugs to connect/disconnect your camera system from the housing. Consider them sacrificial connections. I had an unfortunate experience with the tip of the Housing LANC connector breaking off inside my Sony HVR-V1U housing jack. That's 300USD to Amphibico (150 labor and 150 shipping) and 300USD to a Sony Repair site for a new LANC jack. If you do find one of the scarificial plugs damaged just get another locally, or carry spares. Minimize the stress on the camera and housing's power connectors.
