The Delta System

The delta system consists of a backplate, or travel plate and the NEW Delta Trim Device and accessories such as the new light mount and the new argon mount. This Delta trim device is the latest design in back mounted buoyancy and trim devices designed for divers who want to mount their cylinders and wings using a traditional style backplate, or travel plate, or even a soft plate. What makes this design so unique is that we took all of our experience and knowledge from designing the Z-System, which is a side mount diving system, and applied all those advantages and benefits of what we learned to our new Delta Back Mount System and specifically to the NEW Delta Trim Device.

The Delta Single Tank Trim Device

In designing the new Delta Trim Device by porting over all the technology and knowledge we learned when designing the Z-System Side Mount System, we first had to ensure that we created a very low profile and streamlined "buoyancy wing" that would contour to your body - much like the Z-Trim side mount trim device. This would reduce drag and reduce the amount of air "shift" from side to side in the wing, which ultimately causes instability.
Secondly, we wanted to create the majority of lift where the diver actually needs it to keep their feet up and their body in that flat, horizontal trim we call the prone position. This was paramount when we designed the Z-Trim Device.
Thirdly, we wanted to have an aircell big enough to create enough lift for cold water divers and yet be streamlined enough for warm water divers. In other words, you only need to purchase one size wing for all your single tank diving. The Delta Trim device has 0lbs/0kgs up to 38lbs/17kgs of lift. Keep in mind when the Delta Trim Device is empty it will NOT "Flap" around or taco around the tank. It remains snug and streamlined around your body, reducing drag and creating easy movement through the water.
Fourth, we wanted to ensure that the inflate and deflate ability of the device functioned excellently while in the horizontal position. We spend the majority of our diving time underwater in the flat and horizontal prone position so the deflate mechanism should be positioned to accommodate that and not force the diver to go feet down or vertical to deflate using the LP hose. We decided not to mount the LP inflate and deflate in the traditional manner, which is designed for diver to be in the vertical position. What we learned from designing the Z-Trim Device for side mount diving is that the buoyancy device must dump gas in all positions including vertical and horizontal. The Delta Trim Device is designed so divers does not have to drop their feet in order to dump gas from the LP hose.
