We've decided to do a liveaboard but can't decide on which place, Solomons or PNG. Any recommendations would be appreciated

I really enjoyed Febrina off New Britian in PNG, trip report here and photos here but I have never been to Solomons so can't do the comparison. Enjoy wherever you go.

Thanks Alison, What time of year did you goand what was the avg water temp? How did you book your airfare and was it a lot?

I was there in early October 2006. The water was a toasty 29 C (I think that is 84 F).

I am from NZ so airfare was a combination of airpoints to Cairns and booking to PNG (which included a side trip to the highlands and the flight out to New Britian) and back to Cairns through South Pacific Travel in Cairns. I think the airfares from Aussie and around PNG and back cost about $US750 but not sure. South Pacific Travel do good fares from Aussie into PNG. They were recommended to me by the Febrina Operators. The South Pacific contact was Owen Davis and the email is spt@onthenet.com.au. The Febrina Contact details are here.
Good luck with your planning

We've taken Star Dancer and enjoyed it, plenty of big and small stuf and great sunsets. We traveled in early July, the water at the coldest was 86, but mostly 90F every day. Visibility was always good. All areas looked pristine.

ooooh that titan looks bigger then the sharks!

Those Titans are scary when nesting......don't even think about searching their area, they get these ideas that they can keep any invaders away.....and I think they can too :light:
