Good morning,
I apologize in advance if this belongs in the solo diver forum,

Long time Bonaire diver, but never stayed at Buddy Dive. Seriously considering a trip in a few months, but i wanted to see if anyone has ever gotten any 'grief' or asked not to dive solo on the Buddy dive house reef?
I dive with full redundancy, and have my solo cert. to make anyone feel more at ease. I contacted Buddy dive and asked if they allowed solo diving, and the response was 'a very vague ' well.. we don't suggest it'. I realize that they often play vague for liability purposes, but just made me second guess.
I just wanted to see thoughts on the topic from the Buddy dive faithful before considering it more.

is it just me or does this post not sound very familiar??

I go once or twice a yar, for 25 years now. Never a problem with solo diving off their dock. except immediately after Fiona Sharp's death a few years ago, on a solo CCR dive.
Don't ask, don't tell.

I have been solo diving for years over at Capt Dons and never had an issue. They have filled my pony as well for years without question or issue (other than to perhaps check to see if vis and hydro up to date). I have not heard of anyone having an issue solo diving off Buddys dock.

Oh no...And what kind of answer did you expect? Keep your mouth shut, just go and dive. If they object they will tell you.

There's nobody there watching the water making sure divers come out at least 2 at a time.

I solo off Buddy, Front Porch (I stay at sand dollar) and Bari all the time. Dive Friends asked for proof of solo diver cert, but didn’t object in any way. Never hassled at Buddy (caveat, I did my student self-rreliant with them (thanks Vanessa!) and my self reliamt instructor with Lars - a great experience). But their official policy at the rental store downtown is that they rent tanks only to Buddy teams.

I’ve taught a few there and at Front Porch and Bari. Certified my own daughter there after she’d completed her Divemaster - I think it’s great skill and mindset especially for anyone teaching or leading dives.

I see a lot of solo divers on those reefs without any redundancy. But personally, I carry spare mask, buoyancy (smb), computer, and a pony..

Be conservative. Be safe. Have fun.
